Kundli reading, explained in plain language

Your birth chart is a map of timing. A good reading tells you which periods are open, which are tight, and what that means for the decisions in front of you.

What is actually in a kundli

The chart fixes the ascendant, places the planets in twelve houses, and divides your life into planetary periods called dashas. Most of what a reading says comes from those three things, not from daily horoscopes.

The parts that change a decision

  • The running dasha, and when it ends — this is usually the single most useful fact in the chart.
  • The strength of the house that rules your question, whether that is the seventh for marriage or the tenth for career.
  • Yogas that materially change the picture, rather than every yoga a website can list.
  • Retrograde and combustion, which are often the reason a period drags instead of resolving.

Why birth time matters

The ascendant moves about one degree every four minutes. A two-hour error can shift the ascendant by a whole sign and move every house in the chart. If your time is uncertain, say so — a competent astrologer will work with the Moon sign and tell you which parts are unreliable.

What a reading should cost you in time

Twenty-five minutes is enough for one clear question. If you want a full life reading, book two sessions rather than expecting one to cover everything — a rushed chart reading is worse than a focused one.

Questions people ask

Can I get a kundli made without a birth time?

A partial chart, yes. The Moon sign and some dasha information remain usable. House-based questions, including marriage timing, become unreliable and we will say so.

Is a computer-generated kundli enough?

It is the calculation, not the reading. The chart can be generated free anywhere. What you are paying for is the interpretation and the judgement about which parts matter.
